Who Are We |
About Little Lambs Ministry The vision for ministering to the orphans of Ukraine and Russia came when Mrs. Renate Kurz visited Kiev, Ukraine in the summer of 1992. There she saw a need for summer care for orphans, as many of the children have no place to go. These precious lambs were ending up in substandard camp situations or worse yet, psychiatric hospitals. The Little Lambs summer camp ministry began in the summer of 1993 and led to a partnership with Orphanage 21 in Kiev. In subsequent years, the Lord opened the doors to additional orphanages who wanted us to bring our summer camp program to their children. Every summer, over 2000 Ukrainian and Russian orphans hear the gospel and are shown Christ’s love in action. Some of these children have never before heard the good news that God loves them, the forgotten children of the former Soviet Union. From this ministry our Relief Program and Little Lambs Homes were born. Renate Kurz is the founder and president of Little Lambs Ministry. Both she and her husband, Waldemar Kurz, are Russian-born, of German descent, and were raised in different regions in the former USSR. In the early 1970’s, they both immigrated to Germany where they met and married. They came to the United States in 1984. Both have been involved in ministries to the former Soviet Union. Reverend Kurz is a seminary graduate and currently is the Bible League’s director for all ministries in the Eastern European area. The Kurzes have three daughters and reside in Carol Stream, Illinois.
* To provide the opportunity to accept Christ -- We teach Bible lessons in the orphanages during the winter and organize Christian camps for orphans in the summer. * To provide the opportunity to grow in their faith -- We provide an outreach center in the city of Kiev to continue to minister to the graduates of the orphanages through Bible studies, fellowship, and meals. * To provide the opportunity to become self-sufficient, contributing members of society -- We support and encourage the graduates to stay in trade schools. We offer counseling and help find jobs and housing. We provide family-type homes for orphans where the children can grow up under the nurturing of loving Christian house parents and learn about God who will never leave them Fatherless and Jesus, His Son, who made it possible for them to be a part of God’s family.
STATEMENT OF FAITH We believe that the Godhead eternally exists in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We believe that “all Scripture is given by inspiration of God.” We believe that salvation for men has been provided by the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ, who died as our substitute. We believe that salvation is received by faith and that those who trust Christ as Savior receive forgiveness and are born again. We believe that the Holy Spirit is our abiding Comforter and Helper, strengthening faith and devotion and conforming us to the image of Christ. We believe that the Lord Jesus will return to earth to reign in righteousness. We believe
that God has called us to respond to Christ’s great commission
to go, to give, to pray, to reach out to those who need the most but
have the least ¬- the abandoned children in Ukraine and the former
Soviet Union |
